Servant-Thoughts Always Win

Servant-Thoughts are fighters. They wage war against the flesh according to God’s Word. These spiritually-minded thoughts are set on the mind of the Spirit and are determined to give direction for wise choices, to discern between good and evil.

These servant-thoughts have a simple and particular strategy for advancing and destroying the strongholds of the world, the flesh, and the devil in your life. They “stand.” In Romans 6 this word is used five times (twice in 6:13, once in 6:16, then twice in 6:19). The Greek word is paraistimi, and literally means to stand beside.

In the Greek world paraistimi was the position of a bondservant in relation to his/her master. They would stand beside, slightly behind the master’s elbow. At this position, they could easily hear the desire of their master and quickly carry out that command.

In Romans 6, in most translations, it is translated present, as in the one to whom you present yourself to (to stand beside) in order to obey. Romans 6 teaches that the one to whom you present yourself to is the one you will obey. This same word is used again in Romans 12:1-2 describing how we are to present our bodies and minds as living sacrifices to God.

In Ephesians 6:10 – 19 we learn about the armor of God that He has provided for us “…to stand against the schemes of the devil…” This is the same word that is used in Romans 6. This teaches a very important truth about spiritual warfare. We stand strong in the Lord against the lies of the world, the flesh, and the devil by standing beside Christ in the humble and obedient position of a bondservant.

Servant-Thoughts access the weapons of Truth, Salvation, Righteousness, the Gospel of Peace, Faith, the Word of God, and Spirit-Prayer, to kill the power of the lie of sin in you so that you can walk in the Spirit, by the Spirit, in order to enjoy the power of Christ today! Praise God for your fighting servant-thoughts! They always win.

  1. Studying your 4 'Servant Thoughts' articles. They are a 'prescription' I am filling up on this week. Thank you! I would like to hear more about Spirit-Prayer which you mention in the weapons. You wrote "...kill the power of the lie of sin..."
